Speaking/Training Engagements

“The United States is the world’s leader in incarceration with 2.2 million people currently in the nation’s prisons and jails, a 500 percent increase over the last forty years. Changes in sentencing law and policy, not changes in crime rates, explain most of this increase. These trends have resulted in prison overcrowding and fiscal burdens on states to accommodate a rapidly expanding penal system, despite increasing evidence that large scale incarceration is not an effective means of achieving public safety.”

This was a very informative training that helped me gain insight for working with people who have experienced trauma.

Glad someone gets it!

I was very impressed with this training. I personally suffer from major depression as well as addiction. I am very grateful to be the street out reach coordinator for Good Samaritan Ministries and I am very happy to be on the side of the fence helping people. It was very inspiring meeting somebody formally from the corrections industry that gets it, that sees it, and understands the struggle addicts face, on a daily basis for the rest of our lives. I’m just hoping that there’s change in the near future and glad that I can be a part of that change in a positive way! Thank you again for allowing me to attend this training with staff at Instar Community Services.

Trauma Informed Care

This training is a must for professionals working in the fields of SUD or MH. It reflects a higher level of thinking and care for people with trauma and how we can better serve their needs. Rhonda & Michael’s passion shows in the quality of the information and the intelligence of the education.

Fresh air

This event is a must for anyone/any agency that gets the honor of working with people who struggle with trauma, addiction, and mental health issues. The presenters are kind and compassionate and professional. The presentation was relaxing and the audience was able to ask questions and share their own personal experiences either with themselves or the people they help on the front lines day after day.

Advocate For Legislative Action

Enter your email below and join us in advocating for a change in treatment offered within the correctional system.

  1. Stop using treatment centers as forms of punishment.
  2. To cease all 20-year contracts between the Department of Corrections (DOC) and private organizations.
  3. To mandate trauma informed treatment in Montana’s DOC owned and/or privately contracted treatment facilities using the evidence-based guidelines provided by Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
  4. Mandating 'independent standardized measuring tool' to assess recidivism rates.
  5. To mandate the use of SAMHSA’s six key principle guidelines to measure the effectiveness of Montana’s DOC owned and/or contracted treatment centers with private organizations.
  6. To mandate the development of specialized Correctional Counselor, trauma informed trainings. Training which will teach Correctional Counselors to uphold a safe and secure environment through a relationship-based rapport with incarcerated people in Montana’s DOC owned and/or privately contracted treatment facilities.
